The Competition

The Napa Valley Mustard Festival presents the thirteenth annual World-Wide Mustard Competition in 2009.

The deadline for entries is January 25, 2008.

There are 19 categories from Sweet-Hot to Classic Dijon. The competition is overseen by Barry Levenson, curator of the Mount Horeb Mustard Museum in Mount Horeb, Wisconsin.

Medals for first, second, and third place in each category will be presented at The Awards on the evening of Friday, March 14.

Barry Levenson, Curator of The Mount Horeb Mustard Museum in Mount Horeb, Wisconsin, provides the guidelines for the World-Wide Mustard Competition and has coordinated the judging panel since it was launched in 1995. Barry and his wife, Patti, attend The Awards and The Marketplace as honored guests of the Napa Valley Mustard Festival.

Mustard and gourment product companies are invited to participate in The Marketplace ~ The Festival Signature Event - (not required in order to particpate in the Competition) - Please contact us regarding participation in this event for Connoisseurs.

The Awards

World champion mustard makers at The Awards, 2005

Meet world champion mustard makers and taste original mustard recipes by Napa Valley chefs while you enjoy music and Napa Valley vintages at The Awards, to be held on March 13 at 7 pm., at Black Stallion Winery.

The Marketplace

Celebrate the mustard season and taste mustards from around the world at The Marketplace, the Napa Valley Mustard Festival's Signature Event, on Saturday and Sunday, March 14 and 15, 11 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Mustards and an array of gourmet products will be showcased alongside sensational Wine Country cuisine, world famous wines, hearty craft brews, and fine arts and crafts. Explore the best of Napa Valley at The Marketplace during the most beautiful time of year in the Wine Country, when the brilliant gold of mustard in bloom carpets hillsides, valleys and vineyards.
