NEWS Napa Valley, CA ~ The Napa Valley Mustard Festival offers a full palette of food, wine, art, entertainment, and cultural activities staged throughout the world famous grape growing region from Saturday, January 31, through Saturday, March 27. Mustard, the condiment, shares center stage with mustard in bloom. Mustard recipes appear at events; celebrity chefs present cooking demonstrations highlighting mustard in their recipes; The World-Wide Mustard Competition attracts entrants from around the globe; and chefs compete for the titles of Napa Valley Mustard Festival Executive Chef, Rising Star Chef of the Year, and People’s Choice Chef of the Year.

The Awards - Presentation of WWMC Medals & Chefs' Mustard Recipe Competition
As mustard companies receive their medals at The Awards on March 12 at COPIA - The American Center for Wine, Food & the Arts in Napa, California, chefs will compete for the titles of Napa Valley Mustard Festival Executive Chef of the Year, Rising Star Chef of the Year and People’s Choice Chef of the Year. In 2003 Peter Halikas of Dean & DeLuca won as Executive Chef; Michael Thurman, Line Chef at Martini House won as Rising Star Chef; and Kelly Macdonald of Napa Valley Wine Train was selected by guests as People’s Choice Chef of the Year. Halikas’ winning recipe was Fennel-Apple Salad with Mustard Seed Vinaigrette; Thurman’s was Braised Lamb Cheeks; Macdonald’s was Seared Ahi Tuna with Mustard Brittle.

Celebrate the mustard season and taste mustards from around the world at The Marketplace, the Napa Valley Mustard Festival's Signature Event, on Saturday and Sunday, March 13 and 14, 11 a.m. to 5 p.m., at COPIA: The American Center for Wine, Food & the Arts, in Napa.
