Napa Valley Mustard Festival Seeks Entries For 2005 World-Wide Mustard Competition

Napa Valley, CA ~ The 12th annual Napa Valley Mustard Festival and the Mt. Horeb Mustard Museum invite mustard makers from around the globe to take a shot at being named the Grand Champion Mustard of the World (or to win a bronze, silver or gold medal in their category). Last year’s participating mustard companies from the United States of America, Canada, Scotland, France, Germany, Australia, Russia and Japan entered 287 mustards in 15 categories.

The Napa Valley Mustard Festival in California, and the Mt. Horeb Mustard Museum in Wisconsin join forces to produce the annual Napa Valley Mustard Festival World-Wide Mustard Competition. The Competition’s categories are Sweet Hot, Honey, Dijon, Coarse-grained, Classic Hot, Pepper Hot, Horseradish, Herb, Garlic, Fruit, Spirit, American Yellow, Deli/Brown, Exotic, and Mustard-Based Dressings/Sauces.

Medal winners receive two free tickets to The Awards (this year March 11) at COPIA: The American Center for Wine, Food, and the Arts in Napa to kick off The Marketplace weekend, March 12-13, the Festival’s Signature Event. The Awards, combine the mustard medal winners and the chefs’ competition participants into one fun-filled, delicious evening of tastings. Chefs create original mustard recipes and vie for the title Napa Valley Mustard Festival Chef of the Year and People’s Choice Chef of the Year. Many award winners join the festivities with a booth at The Marketplace to promote their mustards (and/or other gourmet products).

The deadline for entries in the Napa Valley Mustard Festival World-Wide Mustard Competition is January 17, 2005. The deadline for sign-ups for a gourmet food product’s booth in The Marketplace is January 30, 2005.
